Thursday 15th

Today we went up to the Meitte Hot Springs which is 17km from the Pocahontas Cabins, we where imagining natural hot springs similar to what we had been to in the Northern Territory, but these where actually 4 different swimming pools of various temperatures, 15, 18, 38 & 41 degrees. We tried all the pools, it was very invigorating. The pools where first formed back in 1908, and later developed in the 1930's. In 1968 the original concrete baths where replaced by the current pools.

Old concrete baths.

Current day pools.

When we where leaving there were 3 mountain goats in the car park.

It was then back into Jasper as we where running low on gas, the changing colours of Fall Autumn) are around everywhere up here.

We had a walk through Jasper and had a pub lunch.

We then drove 44km out to Maligne Lake which we were told was very nice. Maybe we where tired but I have seen better lakes back home, Lake Macquarie for example.

It was then back into Jasper to check into the motel we booked online unseen last night. When we arrived they informed us we had been upgraded to the executive suite at no extra charge, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining, lounge with a fireplace, and the bathroom has a sauna.
