Monday 5th

Today is the Labour Day public holiday in Canada and the last day of the summer school holidays. The weather is overcast and around 16 degrees, a change from yesterday. We have decided to walk down to Gastown and Canada Place, it is only a few blocks.

Gastown is renowned for its steam clock which goes off on the quarter hour and plays a tune through its steam whistles.

We then had a look through Canada place, this is where we will catch the bus to Grouse Mountain tomorrow.

Canada Place is where Expo '86 was held and is now a convention centre and where the cruise ships leave from, there was only one in today.

Killer Whale block statue.

Also in Canada Place is the Cauldron for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

It was to early for a Bellini at the Cactus Club Cafe so we had a coffee instead.

Seaplanes also can be found in this part of the harbour, they where coming and going all day despite the cloudy weather, the cloud covered Grouse mountain was visible yesterday, hopefully it will be clear tomorrow.

Vancouver is a city of tall buildings, all new buildings are required to be set back from the street and have a landscaped area out the front and must include a water feature.

In the afternoon we went searching for a cheap extra bag, we finally found one in a cheap shop. Prior to finding it all we saw where expensive ones in department stores.
