There where 100's of people of all ages going up the mountain to ride their mountain bikes down to the bottom, they either go up on the chair lift or the gondola, it is an amazing sight. There are 3 different places for them to get off depending how high up the mountain they want to go, we saw quite a few at Whistler Peak (2182m) which is the highest point you can get to. There are 75 trails available with 57 currently open.
Construction of the Gondola commenced in the summer of 2007 and opened in the winter of 2008.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE GONDOLA RIDE
More than a gondola, the PEAK 2 PEAK is innovation on a different scale entirely. Spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola is a 4.4-kilometre/2.7mile, 11-minute journey to infinite possibilities. By connecting the high alpine terrain of both mountains, it changes the way you ride Whistler Blackcomb. It allows you to transfer mountains and ride the best terrain on both in the same day. Ride the Peak of Whistler in the morning then 7th Heaven on Blackcomb in the afternoon.
More Mountain bike riders on the way down.
